Let me introduce myself, I am Lord Dragonhawke, High Lord of the Clan of the Celtic Rogues, and I thank you

for your interest in my clan.

I imagine that there are a few things that you would like to know about the clan so lets get started with a brief

history. I ask you to read carefully because if you join there are a FEW things that you will be expected to

adhere to.

The Clan of the Celtic Rogues started out long ago as a Father/Son bonding activity. I guess that if there is any

credit to be attached then it should be go to young Aldric, better known as PRINCE PYRO - the fire god. It was

his idea that we start going to faire in garb and start camping. From the moment we started camping we sought

to make our camp different from the others. The use of flags, banners, torches, and chain did the trick. This

proved to be a very good thing because it helped us meet people who were of kindred thought. As we began to

meet new people we became friends, and as friends we started camping together. The fellowship was good.

We have been lucky enough to have guests join us from as far away as Norway, Germany, Spain, England,

Ireland, Scotland, and all parts of the good old USA and of course, let us not forget, our beloved KINGDOM

OF TEXAS.

By now you have met many of our clan and can see that we have become a family with a common heritage,

Celtic, and a common goal, to have fun at faire. We are also a diversified group, and we welcome the fact that

it is this very diversity that makes our clan so special. This diversity is made apparent by those that make up

our clan, including: reavers, highlanders, pirates, dark ones, cavaliers, mystics and my personal favorite

mercenaries.

Make no mistake about it, I am the leader of this clan, I am the patriarch. When you join my clan, you leave the

world of democracy and enter a dictatorship in which I am that dictator. I try my best to be a benevolent ruler,

but the fact remains that I am the leader. I will not be gainsaid. If you have a problem with this, I advise you

not to join my clan.

Before I go into what is required, I will tell you what is NOT required or expected. We will not embarrass you,

we will not make you debase yourself, and there are no self-defacing rituals. That is NOT who we are. That is

NOT what we do. Well, by now you must be asking yourself what it takes to join this family, this Clan of the

Celtic Rogues. You will find that the requirements for joining are simple & straight forward.

1. Acknowledge the authority of the High Lord as ruler of the Clan.

2. Acknowledge the authority of the High Council & the High Lord’s designated representatives.

3. Acknowledge & honor the Clan guidelines, our motto, & our stated belief.

4. Be willing to participate in clan functions & activities. (Don’t join us only to disappear after faire is over

and then show up at the next one.)

5. Be willing to contribute to the clan your energies & talents.

6. Camp a minimum of 4 times with the clan before acceptance.

7. Be willing to help set up & take down camp. Being a member is not a free ride!!

8. Have period style garb. We are a Renaissance/Fantasy group so this includes Lords, Ladies, wenches,

warriors, demons, imps, dwarves, wizards, elves, fairies, etc… This time period DOES NOT INCLUDE

Capt. James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, Darth Vader, Hans Solo, Jedi Knights, or any Star Trek or Star Wars

characters.

See, I told you that they were simple & straight forward, but if there is anything that you disagree with, then

please go away NOW!!!!!!!!

Now, what do I expect from you as a clan member? That is pretty easy as well.

work, distance, and other obligations will interfere with clan functions, but there are some who, after

being accepted, come only once and awhile. If there is a problem with this DO NOT JOIN. Being a

clan member means trying a little harder. We will not seek to dominate your personal life, but don’t use

us to camp in a “cool campsite”. We do try to have monthly gatherings, but they don’t always work out.

As I said before, I expect you to try a little harder to participate in all clan functions.

FREE RIDE. We come from all socio-economic backgrounds. I realize that some have more than

others and some have less, but that is a fact of life. All I expect is for you to contribute what you

HONESTLY can, nothing more, nothing less. We have no dues and I do not want dues. I believe that if

EVERYONE contributes what they HONESTLY can, we won’t need dues.

eaten and drank to your hearts content. All of these things do cost money, and if EVERYONE contributes, the

cost of running such a camp can be cheap. Our normal camping needs are propane, tiki torch fuel, firewood,

food, and drink (alcoholic, soft drinks, and water). You do not have to drive yourself into bankruptcy, just

contribute what you HONESTLY can.

Bringing supplies is not the only contribution that is expected, helping with putting up and tearing down our

camp is very important. If you are going to camp in it you must help set it up or tear it down, not sit around on

your backsides while a few endeavor to do the job that many should be doing. There is always something to do,

and after securing your personal camp ask what you can do to help. Also, habitually running late or leaving

early to escape these chores is very much frowned upon, and yes, I do notice these things. If you come too late

to put up then you will help to take down. As a clan member you are expected to help. THERE WILL BE NO

FREE RIDES!!!!!! 

That is what is expected of you. If you disagree with any of it or you feel that you can not hack it then PLEASE

FEEL FREE TO LEAVE NOW!!!!!

Next you will find the clan hierarchy, our motto, and our stated belief. Our clan council is made up of

individuals who assist me in making decisions concerning the clan. They are there for you. If, for some reason,

you feel that you can not talk to me please feel free to pass you thoughts through them to me. This does NOT

give you the right to talk trash and bad-mouth my decisions. If you have that big a problem, you better come to

me. My door is always open and my house is always open for any member of the clan, anytime. I will always

listen. I may not respond the way you hope, then again I may. It depends on the validity of your problem.

Well, there it is. At first glance you may think that the joining requirements, expectations, guidelines, motto,

and stated belief may be a little much. If you will look again you will see that it all boils down to common

sense and good manners, something that is sadly missing in the world today. Once again, if you disagree with

any of it or you do not believe that you can hack it, please do not waste your time or ours.

If you decide to join us, please fill out the application form and the guideline acceptance and acknowledgement

form and turn them into me.
